How long have you been in business?
Since March 1982.
What is your primary product or service?
I photograph portraits of families, children, pets,and high school seniors. I also photograph weddings, special events, groups and head shots.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
I was always interested in photography even as a child. I would always photograph family occasions or just scenery.I have a BA in Dramatic Arts and and still direct youth theater. I've always felt my drama training helps me work with different personalities and orchestrating large groups (such as weddings) comes easy to me. After college, I became a children's photogragher in Virginia. It was very fast paced and I enjoyed having to "think fast". My husband and I moved to Boulder in 1978, and after managing a portrait studio for Jerry Avey, I then started my own business - working out of my home.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
I'm a good listener and with every sitting or wedding I first want to talk with my client to make sure I know what they are looking for. I enjoy the variety of working with different people and I enjoy my work. I think that helps my clients to relax and enjoy the photo session.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
I am a small business. I can set up backgrounds and lights in my home or on locations. However , I prefer working with natural light (and out doors) whenever possible. I like the warm soft skin tones from natural lighting and I feel people tend to relax more outside. I have a large garden with levels, grape arbor , flowers- very pretty for photography. I take many sittings to the C.U. grounds, on Boulder Creek, near NCAR, Mt. Sanitas, Chautauqua Park or on Pearl Street Mall for an urban look. Fortunately, the Boulder/Front Range area offers many beautiful "work places"!

Cash or checks.

Mostly in Boulder and surrounding areas, but depending on the job, I would consider any location.

I do.

I schedule any time that works for my client and myself.
